Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities

The Communication and Production Minister (CPM) is a part-time position and will be the primary person responsible for all Audio, Video, Print, and Electronic presentations and communications as needed for the effective communication of the good news of Jesus Christ and the St. Andrew United Methodist Church. The CPM will be supervised by the Senior Pastor, with ultimate accountability to the Staff Parish Relations Committee, to the policies of The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, the SA-UMC Staff-Parish Relations Committee Personnel Handbook, and The Safe Sanctuaries Policy of SA-UMC.

Principal Duties

  • Coordinate and resource Sound Booth Volunteers.
  • Create and Maintain images for the electronic newsletter (The Salt), Sunday Bulletin,
  • Preservice slides, and Sunday Worship and special service slides.
  • Responsible for setting up the sound board, mics, CD’s and DVD’s, and audio/video recording of worship services, including but not limited to, Sunday morning worship services and special worship services (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve).
  • Responsible for set-up and running of PowerPoint before and during worship
  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers who assist in running the sound system and the video recording
  • Additional services for funerals, weddings, and Music @ St. Andrew are paid in accordance with church policy.
  • Participation in worship review and preparation meetings.
  • Transition the church into using Propresenter from Powerpoint.
  • Recording, editing, and submitting videos to live stream, television, and internet, etc as needed. Currently needs are editing the Sunday Service into a one hour video that is uploaded to SA-UMC.Com and a second version that is 28.5 minutes long that is edited and submitted to WMBB television.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements

  • A creative and artistic person who finds joy in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the needs of SA-UMC through various methods.
  • Exhibits an attractive spirituality reflecting Jesus’ command to love God and to love your neighbor.
  • Belief in Saint Andrew’s methods, principles, and structure
  • Belief in the SA-UMC Mission and Core Values. o Our MISSION is: “to become faithful and committed followers of Jesus Christ for the renewing of our hearts, minds, and souls, and the outward sharing of God’s grace to and for the world.” o Our Core Values are Faith, Hope, and Love in all we do.
  • Desire to help people worship God through the use of audio/visual/print/electronic technology
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications and Windows 8 (or later versions).
  • Able to work with iMovie, PowerPoint, Notes, Word, and ProPresenter.
  • Knowledge of speaker system, amps, audio mixers, monitor consoles, projection systems and video systems & format systems preferred.
  • 2 years experience in Audio/Visual Technician position preferred
  • High-level organizational skills with attention to details
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work with the Senior Minister to determine and accept direction on how to communicate the SA-UMC Mission and Vision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other staff and Volunteers

Education Requirements

  • High School/GED required; Associate Degree preferred
