The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

REQUIREMENTS

Must have High School diploma or its equivalent.

 

A minimum of five years of experience developing and implementation n-tier web applications using C#, .Net Framework, XML, JSON, ADO.NET/Entity Framework, RESTFUL Services, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.Net, Web Forms/MVC and IIS.

DUTIES

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service.  This includes, but not limited to, acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.

 

This is a Senior Applications Developer position dedicated (100%) to support the IT Systems utilized by the APD Developmental Disabilities Centers (Tacachale, Sunland, and DDDP), to include the following:

 

Writes, translates and code software programs to build new applications, or enhance the functionality of existing applications according to required specifications.

 

Provides maintenance and support to existing APD DDC business applications.

 

Assists in the definition, development, and documentation of the business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications needed to develop new or enhance existing software programs and applications.

 

Designs, runs, and monitors software performance tests on new and existing applications for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.

 

Liaise with network administrators, database administrators, systems analysts, and business owners to assist in resolving problems with applications/programs.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with the complete software development lifecycle phases, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of n-tier web applications.
  • Experience creating Stored Procedures, Triggers, and development of database objects using SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of database design and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience interacting with clients for requirements gathering.
  • Experience and expertise creating and maintaining data interfaces between various platforms using various data formats.
  • Expertise in gathering user requirements.
  • Experience building test matrices for systems testing.
  • Familiarity with version control software tools.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services or Microsoft Power BI.

 

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM – As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
