MAJOR FUNCTION: The Digital Media Technician position is housed within the TCC Online Division and will report to the Director.  This position will in the training of faculty, support staff, and students in the use of instructional technologies associated with Distance Learning.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:   

  • Provides technical support to Distance Learning faculty and staff on instructional applications licensed and supported by the Center for Distance Learning. Resolves technical problems that faculty encounter in the use of distance learning technologies. Regularly tests the use of various tools and researches problems that course designers experience in the use of any supported product.
  • Works with academic deans and faculty to ensure that distance learning courses and programs are reviewed and assessed on a regular basis. Assists faculty with the development of new courses, course revisions, and course enhancements. Identifies and shares best practices.
  • Develops instructional media for Distance Learning courses, faculty development, and student training. Create and maintain the Center for Distance Learning webpages and updates. Creates instructional technology-related Web pages. Creates and edits digital images, video, and audio. Assist the director with maintaining the portal related to distance learning.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent and five years professional experience working within a higher education facility using Canvas or other learning management systems.  A combination of education and professional experience may substitute for the required experience.  A bachelor’s degree is preferred, and may substitute for four years of the required experience.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of in operating a variety of software applications used in multimedia, courseware development, and distributed learning products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. In the use of personal computers. In the use of electronic mail and the Internet for educational purposes. In the use of appropriate software applications such as Canvas and related tools, PowerPoint, Camtasia, etc. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. In giving attention to detail and follow-through. In the use of desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and email.
